Meherzia's 17 year old son vanishes after leaving Tunisia for Europe. She feels she has no choice but to try and find him. Helped by young Tunisian-Sicilian journalist, Rabih Bouallegue, they go in search of her missing teenage son in Italy, asking anyone who will listen for help. For Meherzia, there is no possibility of rest until she knows the truth. Meanwhile, back in Tunisia, other mothers wait anxiously for news of their own missing children, and more boys from the same neighbourhood plan their own risky journey to Europe.
