Seafarers

9 minutes, 2017

Released on New York Times Op Docs and Aeon Video.

An old Seafaring joke goes something like this: “I travel the world… but it all looks like my gangway”.

In Felixstowe, England, visiting seafarers venture off their ships, but visa restrictions and lack of time prevent them from going outside the port periphery. This film captures the fleeting moments they spend on shore, in a place of respite inside the docks called the Seafarers Centre.
